Non Production/Testing Use case features -
Pilot -
Usually the first phase of public testing, Pilots normally include a small subset of participant Organizations. These Organization’s must request to opt in to a Pilot and then be nominated for participation.

BETA -
Features with successful Pilots will often transition to the BETA phase. This involves rolling the feature out publicly for testing.

Features for Production Use -
Generally Available (GA) - Once a feature has passed the Pilot and BETA testing phases it will be formally included in a Salesforce release.

Summer 23 Release Highlights | Demo here - TBU

Flows -
  • Convert Processes to Flows with the Migrate to Flow Tool, The Migrate to Flow tool supports only record-triggered processes and scheduled actions. A scheduled action is migrated as a scheduled path in a flow.
  • Flow user permissions are now all consolidated under a new Flow and Flow Orchestration section in App Permissions. Previously, they were dispersed throughout System Permissions.
  • Standard flows that contain triggers now appear in Flow Trigger Explorer.
  • Automate processes with external data by creating an HTTP callout action that calls a web-based service API, all within Flow Builder and without code.You can now edit an HTTP callout action declaratively and more easily configure the parsing of the API’s response that makes the external data usable in flows.
General Enhancements -

  • Generally Available -When you create a field, set its field-level security on permission sets instead of profiles.
  • Delegated administrators can now manage the assignment of permission set groups for users in their delegated group, giving you more time for other admin tasks.
  • Beta feature - Users can select up to 100 records in the related list and perform mass updates instead of single record updates.
  • Salesforce deploys enhanced domains in Summer ’23. If you encounter an issue after that deployment, you can disable this feature until Salesforce enforces this update in Winter ’24
  • Salesforce enables Salesforce Edge Network on a rolling basis between Summer ’23 and Winter ’24.You can defer that enablement through a My Domain option, and you can disable Salesforce Edge Network within 7 days after the enablement has occurred.
  • Use the LoginEvent and LoginEventStream objects in Real-Time Event Monitoring to track login flows for connected apps. Use this data to monitor use of insecure flows, including the user-agent and username-password flows.
  • The related list View All page now renders using Lightning Web Components (LWC) instead of Aura. Using LWC, the full list of related records loads earlier and renders faster.
Lightning App Builder -
  • Control field alignment across columns by using a new property on Dynamic Forms Field Section components. The Align fields horizontally property prevents fields in multicolumn Field Sections from collapsing upward when there’s a gap due to differences in field heights.
  • Previously, Dynamic Forms was available only on desktop. Now, with Dynamic Forms on Mobile (beta), your mobile users can have the same customized experience that your desktop users have.

Service Cloud -

  • Use the individual-object linking flow template called Find Contact for Associated Case from Email-to-Case. Add it to the Actions & Recommendations component.
  •  In Summer24, Salesforce is retiring the existing email editor in the docked and case feed email composers.The Lightning editor provides an updated user interface and other new features: full-screen mode, the ability to print from the menu, undo and redo buttons, and smart copy-paste. It also complies with Salesforce security standards.
  • When agents start to type a search string, search results include email messages with matching subjects. Previously, typeahead didn’t consider email messages.
  • Show supervisors real-time metrics to help them identify and resolve issues quickly. In this continuing pilot, the wallboard includes more charts. On the Omni Supervisor tab, supervisors can select a queue of interest to filter the metrics shown.
  • Omni Supervisor shows agent capacities for interruptible and non-interruptible work.[Pilot Feature - need to work with AE]
  • Knowledge article authors and knowledge managers can publish articles in 15-minute intervals to better address the targeted nature of certain types of communications.

Experience Cloud -

  • Knowledge article authors and knowledge managers can publish articles in 15-minute intervals to better address the targeted nature of certain types of communications.
  • With Expression Based Visibility, now generally available, you can show or hide individual components based on rules that contain a set of conditions.
  • You can add the Edit standard action and Create a Record and Update a Record quick actions to the Actions Bar. Previously, only headless Lightning web component quick actions were supported.
  • In Lightning Experience, when you create a public link to share a file, you can choose to set a date when the link expires. You can also protect access to the file with a password.
  • When a membership request finishes processing, Salesforce sends you an email notification and confirms whether processing was successful.
  • Now Salesforce emails you when you reach 95% of your portal role limit, so you have time to make adjustments before you run out of roles. When you reach your portal role limit, you can’t create more users. To increase the number of roles, enable Account Role Optimization.

Sales Cloud -

  • GA - Without leaving the opportunity record, teams can see how multiple products and each team member fits into a sales motion. And with opportunity product splits reports, team members can track all of the opportunities they contribute to.
  • Users can use the new search field to quickly find the specific items they’re looking for in the To Do List. Users can act on the tasks that matter most, wherever those items are in the list. Previously, users could tag items and create lists, but not search.

Spring23 Enforced Release Updates -

Salesforce Enhanced Domains Spring 23 Enforcement

Enhanced domains are required for sandboxes and non-production orgs in Winter ’23 unless you enable an org-level setting that postpones their enforcement until Spring ’23.

When you enable enhanced domains, login URLs for your sites change. Your My Domain login URL changes when you enable enhanced domains in a sandbox. Enhanced domains don’t change your My Domain login URL in production unless you also change your My Domain name or suffix.

When you enable enhanced domains, all URLs across your org contain your company-specific My Domain name, including Experience Cloud sites and Salesforce sites. Also, your URLs don’t change when your org is moved to another Salesforce instance.

Differences Between Sandbox and Production

When you enable enhanced domains, your production My Domain login URL format, MyDomainName.my.salesforce.com, doesn’t change unless you also change your My Domain name. However, enabling enhanced domains in a sandbox adds the word “sandbox” to the org’s My Domain login URL: MyDomainName--SandboxName.sandbox.my.salesforce.com.

 Potential Impact

  • Users can experience errors when attempting to access Salesforce, including but not limited to Experience Cloud sites, Salesforce Sites, and Visualforce pages.
  • Some embedded content stored in Salesforce no longer appears.
  • Third-party applications can lose access to your data.
  • Single sign-on integrations with sandboxes can fail.
  • Single sign-on integrations with orgs using the *.cloudforce.com and *.database.com domain suffixes can fail.

      • Use the new Generate Completed Goal Log action to identify the point in a dialog flow when a common customer goal is considered complete, such as when the bot returns a knowledge article, generates an order number, or files a case. Then generate reporting metrics to track how often that dialog is reached.
      • Evaluate bot performance right out of the box with new pre-built standard reports(Einstein Bot Reports folder) which include metrics for Article Answers feedback, escalated bot sessions, and more.
    • Knowledge - watch demo here

Avoid Soql using Custom Metadata Type - Platform Developer I Certification Maintenance (Winter '22)

Code without getInstance -

public class CountryCodeHelper {
  public static string getCountryCode(String country) {
    Country_Code__mdt countryCode = [
      SELECT Id, MasterLabel, Country_Code__c
      FROM Country_Code__mdt
      WHERE MasterLabel = :country
      LIMIT 1
    ];

    return countryCode.Country_Code__c;
  }
}

Efficient code by avoiding soql and leveraging getInstance method for custommetadata Types -

Use the getInstance Method to Retrieve Custom Metadata

public class CountryCodeHelper {
  public static string getCountryCode(String country) {
   Country_Code__mdt countryCode= Country_Code__mdt.getInstance(country);
    return countryCode.Country_Code__c;
  }

Salesforce DataLoader

SfdcOneStop DataLoader Session 1 -

https://www.youtube.com/c/sfdconestop

Use Data Loader when:

  • Data Loader is supported for loads of up to 5 million records.You need to load into an object that is not yet supported by the import wizards.
  • You want to schedule regular data loads, such as nightly imports.
  • You want to export your data for backup purposes.

Tools Available within Salesforce App-

1) Data loader desktop app

2) Dataloader.io - Dataloader.io is free you can import, export or delete up to 10,000 records per month.

This limit resets itself on the first day of the month. If you need higher limits please check our professional and enterprise subscriptions.

Use the import wizards when:

  • You are loading less than 50,000 records.
  • The object you need to import is supported by import wizards. To see what import wizards are available and thus what objects they support, from Setup, enter Data Management in the Quick Find box, then select Data Management.
  • You want to prevent duplicates by uploading records according to account name and site, contact email address, or lead email address.
  •  Assets, cases, campaigns, contracts, documents, opportunities, and products can’t be imported via import wizards.

Bulk API does not support queries with any of the following:

  • GROUP BY, OFFSET, or TYPEOF clauses
  • Aggregate functions such as COUNT()
  • Date functions in GROUP BY clauses (date functions in WHERE clauses are supported)
  • Compound address fields or compound geolocations fields

Reports/Dashboards Tutorial

Salesforce Reports&Dashboards Video's on SFDCONESTOP youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLReSpXrazNv4pyk9mAPuQVVxDbcUIDOfp

To check if the report is in private folder, run the below soql -

SELECT Id, DashboardId, CustomReportId, dashboard.developername, dashboard.title, dashboard.foldername, dashboard.folderid, dashboard.createdby.name FROM DashboardComponent USING SCOPE allPrivate WHERE CustomReportId='key in id'

Report Performance best practices -

  • Its important to educate users and have governance in place to ensure Reports that aren't used for N days are deleted from the org without taking user consent to ensure org performance is not impacted. To get the org data one time insights leverage report run functionality to extract/review instead of saving.
  • Ensure to use selective filters to improve the performance of the reports like use AND instead of OR, EQUALS instead of Contains, shorter date ranges, standard index fields like name or any other relevant.

Summer 21 Interesting Features -

  • Hard limit of total custom fields per object has been increased from 800 to 900
  • Use the new Active Licenses tab in the Lighting Usage App to monitor org's active, assigned, and available licenses. Note - The Lightning Usage App isn’t available for sandboxes. Data for the Active Licenses tab is collected on Sunday each week
  • Analyze Custom Lightning Components performance on the lightning record page
  • Record Access Reason i.e. sharing hierarchy is now available in LEX, now no need to switch to classic to review the sharing reason
  • Ability to share records owned by high volume users by creating guest user sharing rules
  • Restriction rules is available as a Beta feature and available for custom objects, contracts, tasks, and events, can be created using Tooling/Metadata API. Without restriction rules, users with access to an account can see its contracts, tasks, and events, even when the organization-wide default is set to Private.
  • Default values on dependent picklists are available on accounts, opportunities, cases, contacts, leads, and custom objects.
  • Beta Feature - Ability to set an expiration dates while assigning users to a permission set or permission set group so you can control when the user's permissions would expire based on use case
  • Mass actions now available in split view i.e. No need to open a separate list page—act on multiple records at once
  • Aura components in the ui namespace are deprecated and are not supported. Recommended to migrate to LWC
  • Quick actions can now be created with LWC, also now a new custom label and a reference to that custom label in an existing Lightning web component can be deployed in a single deployment unlike earlier.
  • Legacy versions 20.0 and earlier of the Salesforce Platform API are deprecated and no longer supported by Salesforce.
  • Active and Inactive picklist values usage along with max allowed can be tracked from the object detail page, Unrestricted bound picklists have a limit of 1,000 on active picklists and a limit of 4,000 on inactive picklists.
  • A limit of 4,000 on inactive values for unrestricted picklists is set by default to improve the performance/user experience(https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_forcecom_fields_inactive_picklist.htm&type=5&release=232)
  • Topics for Objects is now available in LEX with Summer 21

Summer21 Enforced Release Updates -

  • Disable Access to Non-global Apex Controller Methods in Managed Packages (Update, Enforced)-This update corrects access controls on Apex controller methods in managed packages. When this update is enabled, only methods marked with the global access modifier are accessible by Aura components from outside the package namespace. These access controls prevent you from using unsupported API methods that the package author didn’t intend for global access.
  • Enforce Access Modifiers on Apex Properties in Lightning Component Markup (Update, Enforced)-This update makes Lightning components consistent with the use of Apex properties in other contexts. For example, a markup expression can no longer access an Apex property with a private Apex getter. This release update doesn’t affect usage of Apex setters.
  • Convert the Read Only Standard Profile to a Custom Profile (Update, Enforced)-This update converts the Read Only standard profile to a custom profile, which allows you to edit     permissions in this profile as your business needs require. This update was first available in Spring ’21 and is enforced in Summer ’21.
  • Require Verification When Experience Cloud Users, Partners, and Customers Change Their Email Address (Update, Enforced) - To protect user accounts against security threats, Salesforce now requires Experience Cloud users, partners, and customers to verify their email address changes. This update, first available in Winter ’21, was scheduled for auto-enforcement in Spring ’21, but was postponed to and is enforced in Summer ’21.
